Mother Mary Thomas had a busy day on April 11th as she celebrated her 25th year jubilee. Bishop James Conley, apostolic administrator for the Archdiocese of Denver, celebrated the Mass along with our chaplain Fr. Tim. Two of our Reseidents, Fr. Jan Mucha and Msgr. Jones also participated in the Mass. Luncheon for sisters and guests followed the Mass in the Home’s auditorium beautifully decorated in a variety of “silver” accessories representing Mother’s twenty-five years of being a Little Sister.
Later in the afternoon, Residents and employees regaled Mother with a play tailored made for her jubilee. She meets St. Peter who welcomes her into heaven and offers her several “neighborhoods” for her to choose from: the fishermen, farmers, artists, CEOs, nurses, construction workers, gardeners, and others. But Mother will not be satisfied until she meets St. Jeanne Jugan among some of the elderly and knows that this is her place. She turns to St. Peter and tells him she was wrong to die because she is needed in Denver and she would like to take St. Jeanne Jugan along with her. Finally, to have some peace, St. Peter grants her request.
The big highlight of the production was when four employees dressed as “nuns” entertained with songs from the movie, “Sister Act.” They really did steal the show.
Congratulations Mother and God bless you.
