New AJJ Members Make 1st Promises

  • May 16, 2011

by Sister Mary Augustine

A special Eucaristic celebration was held on May 7th to welcome new members to the Association Jeanne Jugan/AJJ. Father Tim, our resident chaplain, was the main celebrant and one of our Residents, Msgr. Jones, concelebrated with him. Five new members made their promises for the first time: Christine Rice, Anna M. Nixon, Carol Yaffe, Sheryl Guerin, and Mai Roland (left to right in photo). Fourteen other members renewed their promises.

The liturgy was one of celebrating life (in Christ), and witness to his love and celebration of service (as demonstrated by all of the AJJ members present). Twelve of the members took an active part in the celebration by handing out programs, doing readings and petitions, and being the Eucharistic Ministers. After the Mass, Residents stopped by to offer their thanks and appreciation to the AJJ members. Later on, the Sisters, AJJ members and their guests enjoyed a delicious meal. Everyone left quite content and inspired to further the work of caring for the aged in the footsteps of Saint Jeanne Jugan.
