Not only does God send us wonderful volunteers here at the Mullen Home, but He sends us volunteers with a BIG heart, and with so much love for our residents! They really understand the family spirit of St. Jeanne Jugan, and they help us Little Sisters of the Poor to extend God’s personal love to each resident within the hospitaller family. As a visitor said recently upon seeing our precious collaborators in action, “They really get it!”
One example (among so many) of cheerful self-giving to make our residents happy occurred recently when a devoted meal service volunteer, Linda, did what family members do: She brought in McDonald’s hamburgers, fries, and shakes to celebrate the birthday of a resident who has no family of her own—and for all the residents in the dining room! Giving to others seems to be the greatest happiness of our volunteers—perhaps much like our heavenly Father, Who delights in bestowing blessings upon His children, and Who so desires their happiness.
Thank you, St. Jeanne Jugan, for the beautiful family spirit that is the heritage you’ve left us, and thank you, faithful volunteers—one and all—for really “getting it”, for bringing our residents so much joy and happiness each day.
Gratefully,
Your Little Sisters
