Golden Jubilee
By Sr. Mary William
“As I come before you; as I bow my head in prayer…” These are the beginning words of the song, Ave Maria, that were sung at the opening of my Golden Jubilee on August 21. In the intimacy of the community, we exchanged greetings and I was able to share with my Little Sisters, my Vocation story and the many, many places that I have been privileged to serve during the past 50 years.
On the morning of August 22, the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, I was joined by Mother Mercy and my Little Sisters to visit all the Residents. Thanks to the generosity of one of our Benefactors, we were able to serve them fresh donuts and pass out gift boxes of candy and a special magnet of our Blessed Mother.
The celebration of the Jubilee Mass was the highlight of the day. After the homily, I was able to renew my Vows and promise God again to observe faithfully the Vows of Poverty, Chasity, Obedience and Hospitality forever. The significance of the Act was overwhelming…50 years…
The rest of the day was spent in praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for the many blessings of these past 50 years and for all of you who have shared my journey, I thank you.
