The Feast of Saint Joseph
In preparation for the feast of St. Joseph, we invited the Residents and Staff to attend a novena which consisted of Eucharistic adoration and a reflection on the virtues of St. Joseph–prepared by a different Little Sister each day – and also the Litany to St Joseph.
The actual day began with the arrival of St. Joseph himself, reenacted by Joe Seefried (Business Manager) and his beloved Mary, reenacted by Monica Paolucci (Volunteer Coordinator), who went around the Home offering fresh Dunkin Donuts to Residents and Staff. Fr. Tom Poulson was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration, which was concelebrated by Msgr. Raymond Jones, who has recently become a resident at the Home. Following Mass, we served the Residents and staff a lovely meal prepared with such enthusiasm by our kitchen staff.
Several days before the actual Feast Day, our begging Little Sister contacted 5 bakeries (all new to us!) who donated various pastries for a mobile “St. Joseph’s Table” with which we would visit all the residents on the afternoon of the feast; this table was a large rolling cart beautifully decorated with a statue of St Joseph in the center and adorned with cheesecakes, cannoli’s, French pastries, and a delicious assortment of Italian favorites.
It was a delight for all of our Little Sisters to be able to offer these wonderful choices to Residents and staff, who were so amazed at the Providence of God, on this lovely day in paying homage to St. Joseph.
