Catholic home schoolers gathered recently at Mullen Home to crown the Blessed Mother for the fourteenth year. Seven children receiving their first communion wore white outfits. Peter Swavely, 7, carried Mary’s crown and Therese Dally, 7, was chosen to crown Mary. The other children processed in following the first communicants each bringing a flower for Mary.
Home schooler Benedict Kullman, 17, played the organ for the mass and crowning. Elisa Dean, 12, played a touching “Ave Maria” on her violin. Anthony Dean, 9, played a Dvorak “Largo” on guitar before mass. After the celebration, the families went outdoors to pray the Rosary and finished the day with a picnic in the Home’s beautiful back yard. The parents collected enough money to buy a brick commemorating the day. The brick will be placed on the commemorative brick path soon to be constructed on the Mullen Home grounds later this year.
