Our activities director, Corrine Hardon, introduced the Rosary with a wonderful quote from Padre Pio: “Give yourself up, into the arms of your Heavenly Mother, she will take good care of your SOUL.” Then Evy, Debbie, and Corrine (all from the activities department) began the song, “On this day, O Beautiful Mother,” while the Residents joyfully joined in the singing.
While Debbie introduced the First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation, Sister Paul lit the candle by the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our apartment Resident, Angie, prayerfully led the decade.
The Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation was represented by the painting of Our Lady of Pompeii. Once again, Angie calmly started the Residents in the recitation of this decade.
By the lovely statue of Our Lady of Fatima, a third candle was lit during the Third Joyful Mystery: The Birth of Jesus. Catherine, another apartment Resident, lovingly led this decade.
Cathy expertly led the Residents during the Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. Our Lady of Mount Carmel holding her infant Jesus extending the brown scapular graced our display.
Praying that Mary, Our Mother, who took the hand of Jesus when he was found in the Temple, and as she took St. Catherine Laboure’s hands, would also take our hands and bring us to Jesus, concluded the final decade of the Joyful Mysteries.
During the conclusion of this faith development activity, Corrine invited Residents to choose and take with them a faith rock decorated with a religious picture of Our Lady. Many positive comments were uttered as the Residents left for their rooms.
May the faith rock remind us of Our Lady’s role in our life of faith, as we strive to imitate her loving “yes” to all God wanted of her.
