On May 1, we honored St. Joseph the Worker by celebrating a special Mass during which three new members of the Association Jeanne Jugan made promises to serve the elderly with love and respect. Congratulations to our newest members Cynthia Haws, Ursula McBrearty, and Carla Oglesby. There were also 26 former members who renewed the same promises. Five others were not able to be present, but will renew their vows at a later date. Our Association now has 34 total members. They are often seen around the house or about the town rendering services to the elderly in various ways, including tending the Country Store, helping with Chimes, Arts and Crafts, making beds, folding laundry, serving meals, etc. They are all deeply committed to living as those joyful disciples of the Lord that our Holy Father, Pope Francis, is always asking us to be.
After Mass, we all met in the auditorium to share a meal during which we all got to know each other better, sharing lots of funny stories, touching moments and ideas for the future. Everyone said that they get much more than they give and they really love the Residents.
May God continue to pour his graces upon each and every one of them and may they know his blessings in their lives. We Little Sisters and Residents are very grateful for all the Association Jeanne Jugan members do. We couldn’t do it without them.
