Party goers and celebrants were more than delighted as they participated in the Sisters’ 100-year anniversary gala at the Denver Marriott Hotel. Over 400 guests -- most of them costumed in their favorite era of the century -- enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner after a ‘red carpet’ entrance complete with “celebrities from the past” (Charlie Chaplin, Judy Garland, etc).
Among the many distinguished guests of the evening, Cardinal James Francis Stafford gave the benediction after an introduction from Auxiliary Bishop Rodriquez. John Ferrugia, PBS news anchor and managing editor, was the Master of Ceremonies and introduced our honorees of the evening: John Burke, Drive Train Industries; Esther Mareno representing King Soopers; Dr. William Early, long-time dentist for the Residents; Tim O’Connor, J.K. Mullen Foundation; Steve Sweeney, Knights of Columbus Council #539; Peter Doherty, lawyer and professional advisor to the Sisters; Kathryn Severa, former chimes music program for the Residents; Juanita Acevedo, 40-year employee; and Elaine Eden, Resident of Mullen Home since 1986.
Concluding the evening’s festivities was dancing to the great music of the Colorado Swing Cats. All agreed it was an evening wonderfully spent … and all involved are now resting up for the next 100 years!
